Government Preparing for Impact of Global Warming

On Friday November 1, 2013, President Obama order that the government must put " effort to boost preparation in state and local communities for the impact of global warming." Natural disaster are affecting communities, our natural resources, ecosystems, economies, and public health throughout the United States.
One of President Obama goal is to reduce the use of U.S. greenhouse gas emission by seventeenth percent by the year of 2020.

With the government working with the states and local communities , and Environmental Protection Agencies to regulate strictly "on coal-burning power plants." I personally am glad that President Obama recognized the impact of global warming on the nations, and is taking action now to avoid problem in the future before it is too late.

  1. Lee, this is and important story. It also has an interesting link to what we've been studying regarding federalism. For example, according to the article, the feds will now be directed to work with states to beef up infrastructure such as bridges in preparation for more serious and frequent weather events due to the global warming. This will likely cost much more and who bears the burden promises to be an interesting discussion. Will some states or politicians view this as an unfunded mandate?
