New York state. New York is the sixth state, and the largest, to legalize same sex marriage. It joins Connecticut, Massachusetts, Iowa, New Hampshire and Vermont, along with Washington D.C. The New York Daily News has a
short profile of the first gay couple set to wed in New York City, Mimi Brown and Carol Anastasio, who have been together for 20 years.
